Your Yoga Instructor
Rachel Hollingsworth, MS CSCS RYT-200, has been studying and practicing yoga for more than 10 years, and teaching Hatha yoga for the past 4 in both the US and abroad. Her yoga classes often blend a strong asana practice with an energetic focus on one or more of the 7 main chakras, although she also has extensive experience teaching yoga to beginners and those with physical limitations. Through her 20-year love affair with weight training, Rachel continues to develop a deep understanding of the mind-body connection in both her own physical practices, and in teaching Yoga, Weight Training, Health, and Fitness to others as a college instructor, personal trainer, group fitness instructor and yoga teacher.
In addition to her strong focus on physicality, Rachel has experience teaching sadhana, yogic philosophy, pranayama, meditation, and mantra. Her eclectic background includes studying Tai Chi Chu'an for over 6 years, and in-depth study of nutrition and health.
Rachel earned her Master of Sciences degree in Exercise Physiology at Arizona State University in 1996, worked in the fitness industry for more than a decade, and began teaching physical education and health in colleges in 2002. Between 2004 and 2007, Rachel spread the joys of physical fitness and yoga to the tiny island of Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia in the developing world, a country where the majority of students had never taken a yoga class before, and had almost no concept of yogic practices. She enjoys using her breadth of knowledge to help others find their own unique path to self-actualization, and tailors private yoga sessions to the physical, mental and spiritual needs of each individual.
“Whatever your situation in life, whatever you believe or do not believe, whatever you want from life, yoga will help you because it changes your whole being and hence your relationship with and attitude to life itself.”
